Water Handling

The Largest Water Handling System in Appalachia

Antero Midstream owns and operates an integrated closed-loop system of fresh water pipelines and storage facilities that delivers water directly to pad sites, significantly reducing the number of trucks that transport water. Our expansive infrastructure supports Antero Resources' completions and ongoing water production in both the Marcellus and Utica Shales. Antero Midstream utilizes localized mobile blending facilities to treat and recycle produced water. The treated water is blended with fresh water and transported via pipeline infrastructure directly back to pad sites.

Conserving Water for Future Generations

We are committed to protecting water quality and abundance throughout the Appalachian Basin. Our dedicated Water Control Room staff monitors, delivers, and inspects vital water resources to ensure we exceed groundwater quality requirements near all Antero operations. In addition, we recycle produced water for use in future well completions, dramatically reducing our use of fresh water and the amount of wastewater disposed of in injection wells.
